Beauty Treatments

I'm not big on beauty treatments. I wash, I exfoliate, I cleanse and I moisturise and that's pretty much it.

But with the marching of time, things could do with a little help, so I'm trying to decide if I should give this a try.

New skincare delight, De Tuinen Snail Gel, is currently whipping up a storm in Holland! Now it's here and exclusively available at Holland & Barrett; it's hard to believe that this sophisticated solution, is sourced from the slime of Chilean snails.

It was discovered that the snail 'secretion', usually used by the snail to repair it's own shell, is smoothing and strengthening when used as a beauty treatment. Holland & Barrett offers you these qualities in a gorgeous gel to bring your skin into a class of it's own.

If used two to three times daily the gel may help to support the skin's elasticity and leave you with a silky soft and smooth skin. The Snail Gel contains a combination of Glycolic Acid, Allantoine, Elastane, Vitamins and Collagen.

What do you think?

And just in case you wondered...I am joking about trying it. That's just way too ewwwww!

  1. Genius. It's amazing what people put on their faces :)

From the reliable source that is the internet...
    allantonine
    1. A substance present in allantoic fluid, amniotic fluid, and fetal urine.
    2. A crystalline oxidation product of uric acid produced in vertebrate purine metabolism and used medicinally to promote tissue growth.

Glycolic Acid reacts with the upper layer of the epidermis, weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold the dead skin cells together. This allows the outer skin to "dissolve" revealing the underlying skin.

Elastane or "Spandex" is a synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity.

  2. The snail is cute, but all I can think of is whether I would rub the slugs that invade my kitchen all over my face. The answer is no. In fact it is NOOOOOOOO.
Just catching up. You're right, there is just not enough time for anything.

  3. EWWWW EEEEEWWWWW and BLECH! (This coming from a woman who uses soap - plain old soap - and water. I think wrinkles are beautiful and are earned character lines and tell a story and oh don't even start me on how much I hate Botox and poor Joan Rivers' abortion of a face.
    How do I really feel???

  5. Bluggghhhhhh!!!! Can't think of anything worse - still, if we knew what went into everything we use daily, we would probably think twice!

    Emx

PS - Go and enjoy the sun - we get precious little of it. :o)

  6. I wonder, would it make your face harden like a shell????

I stick to soap or facial cleanser and water, and I put a spf30 moisturizer on everyday. No one seems to think that I'm really 46.. Most guesses put me in my thirties.

  7. I used to be so surprised at the horrendous things people used for beauty back through history, I was even more surprised to find that we are still doing it, only with more scientific names. Snail Gel???
    That's just not right.

  8. I've got a pretty rigid routine of keeping my face clean, exfoliated and using lots of moisturizer but I would like to think I'd never resort to using snail gel....ever. Yuck!

  9. Damn. Check out my latest post. We had a little snaily dude in the house the other day leaving a slime trail everywhere. If only I'd read this post first, then I would have been rubbing my face all over the gooey goodness instead of wiping it up with a disinfectant cloth!
