The Great British Weather

The British are renowned for their pre-occupation with the weather and I wouldn't normally want to bore you with details of what the weather is doing over here, particularly when many of you experience weather a lot more than we do.

But given that the weather here is a bit more extreme than we usually experience, it would be wrong of me not to mention in it in my blog. When I'm reading back through this in years to come and sitting with my cronies, we can ask each other whether we remember that weather we had in 2009.

So let me just say for the record.....

IT'S F***ING COLD!!

  3. This morning it was 3 degrees C INSIDE my kitchen. No snow though, only water frozen to the ground, outside pipe frozen & an inch + of ice on the sheltered big duck bath; I couldn't break any of the ice in a tub under a down pipe ~ the ice was too thick & I had to jump in the little duck bath to break the ice for them this afternoon. st remember to fill all kettles before I go to bed or I'll have no tea & coffee water come morning

  6. How about we trade a little of your cold for a little of our hot. We could use a bit of snow (or water at least) to dump on the bush, its getting a bit close to the house with the fires.

  10. Last week we were sitting at -40 C. This week we are sitting at -20 C. I know all about the crazy cold. And whether you are dealing with those kinds of temperatures or not, it doesn't really matter does it? Because if you get temps that you're not used to then it's just down right nasty. So I am feeling for you here. Stay warm!!

  11. yes, we're headed into a cold spell later this week. high of -2 F projected for thursday.

i don't mind it so much except for the endless putting on clothes taking off clothes putting on clothes taking off clothes that winter becomes. very time consuming. every time i go outside i have to pull on longjohns under my pants, put on wool socks, a shirt under my sweater, blah blah blah. and then when i come back in the house i have to take it all off again or i'll sweat to death.
