I am qualified

I am now a qualified First Aider.

So if you want to have a heart attack (well, not that you'd want to exactly but if you were going to......), or fall and hit your head, or cut your arm or, or, or...any number of things, I can now do my best to help you survive.

What was interesting was that I thought that First Aid was all about common sense. And so it is. I also thought that what I had been doing up to know was pretty much there or thereabouts, even though I'd never done a course. I mean, we all know what to do with cuts and bruises etc. Except it turns out that what I have been doing, whilst not exactly wrong, wasn't terribly right either. Not in the eyes of the law anyway.

Ho hum.

  1. My son qualified as a First Aider when he was about 21. He has leapt into serious action twice. Once in Sainsburys when a woman in front of him at the checkout had an epileptic fit and swallowed her tongue, the second was in a traffic jam when he noticed the next door driver collapsed at the wheel (heart attack). Both lives were saved - but he melted into the background when the paramedics arrived! Anyway well done on your qualification.

  6. Congrats! My daughter is Red Cross Certified, including deep water rescue. If you have capsized your canoe and need to be rescued, just look for her!
