Ari at Beyond my Slab is our Hostess this week and this is our assignment.
Topic: It's time for show and tell. What does your kitchen counter look like right now? (And no fair cleaning just for the picture!) Do you have any favorite or unusual items on your counter?
Well, I'm going to double up on this post because I realised that about 2 years ago I posted pictures of the kitchen how it was when I first moved in, and I've never posted any "after" pictures.
So this is how it was before:
And this is how it is now...
This is an overall view. It looks longer than it actually is because I used the wide-angle lens to get these shots...excuse the patches of water on the floor but I'd just emptied the dishwasher!
This is the view to the left of the door. You can jsut see the corner of the microwave, the hob, my utensils, nestled in the corner is a bowl of eggs from my chickens, and in the slow cooker is a chilli for dinner this evening!
Moving around to the right you can see three bowls of dog food lined up. If I had turned around and taken a photo you would have seen three hounds standing there, saying to me "Enough with the camera, FEED US!! You can also see my toaster, and my peelings bin and on the shelf are my old-fashioned scales which I absolutely love and wouldn't swap for a more modern set for a minute.
Then we come full circle to the doorway and you can see my kettle with the tea and coffee pots and that's my mobile - that is the best place in the cottage for getting a signal so the phone tends to live there. That white thing lying next to the kettle is a candle. It's there because my front door is sticking so I periodically rub some candle wax on it until I can get the door sorted out!
So there you go, that's my kitchen counters!
FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE
-
Unfortunately, I'm still suffering from this damp weather, I only feel good
when I'm sitting and not doing any physical moves.
Fortunately, we started t...
Love the before and after. Your kitchen is very modern now. I also love the sink, I'm entirely jealous, it's so cool.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I love "How Clean is your House?" is that I get to see all the english kitchens (before AND after). When visiting my grandparents in England and Wales, I was always so impressed with how small, yet efficient the kitchens were. And that the laundry was done right there under the sink rather than in a separate room just for that purpose. Your kitchen is absolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm not participating in FM this week but I wanted to pop over and say how much I LOVE your kitchen. And, like my Mom, that sink is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your kitchen Angela. (envy)
ReplyDeleteGood old candle wax that's what we use.
Fabulous kitchen! I would die for a kitchen like yours. Lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteOMG! What a difference. Your old kitchen reminds me of my grandmother's kitchen. Your new kitchen is gorgeous! Love the granite counters and tile floor. The stainless appliances look great!
ReplyDeleteHow involved were you in the whole remodeling project Angela? It just seems that you really thought out how you wanted to use the space so you're getting a lot of function from a small space. I especially love the built in drains on the sink side.
ReplyDeletewhat a difference, your kitchen is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteJesus, what a lovely kitchen. I somehow pictured you in something more...rustic. Although not as rustic as before pictures. I think it's the henhouse--somehow I've got this rural image of you in tall wellies and a raincoat all the time.
ReplyDeleteoh so jealous. I would love to tear my kitchen down to the floorboards and build it like I want it.
ReplyDeletewhat a coooool sink. yes!
NO CHANCE!!! My garage flooded (mud as well as water) & to make space to put the stuff there into the container, I finally got the Instrument Wardrobe into the house. Table is piled with things from my cookery/livestock bookcase, floor is covered in instruments rescued from garage needing to dry out. Dogs have upended a 15kg sack of their favourite food & puppies have gone mad. I have ONE counter ~ the equivalent of 3 cupboards & that contains the sinks & drainer. I have 1 of those scales & still weigh in imperial :) (Daughter has to cook in imperial, too!)
ReplyDeleteSpooky, I have the same utensil holder as you, and a similar clock and colander. Apart from that, I have a browner version of your before kitchen - I'm hoping for the after version one day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a change that is!! simply beautiful!! Love your round sink!! looks like a gally kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's lovely, and so tidy. I would have had to cear a ton of stuff if I'd done this FM. ANd that would have been breaking rules. Bad Jo.
