I bought some new glasses (as in "spectacles") in early December and they finally turned up before Christmas. Complete with a chip on one of the lenses. So back they went and I finally picked them up last Tuesday.
I'm not happy with them...they are varifocals and I was warned they'd take some getting used to but I'm getting eyestrain when I wear them outside and have to look at long distances. And watching TV is hopeless, I can't see any better than I could with my scratched old ones. I think another visit to the opticians is called for.
